RYA COMPETENT CREW
A 5 day Crew Development course where you will learn to become an efficient working member of the crew. This course is also a perfect introductory course for novice sailors.
This course is for beginners and those who would like to become active crew members rather than just passengers. You will experience living on board and really get to know the boat. Virtually all the course is hands on. You are the crew - without you the sails won't go up and the boat won't be steered. By the end of the course you should be able to steer, handle sails, keep a lookout, row a dinghy and assist in all the day to day duties on board. You will also have visited some interesting places and had an enjoyable holiday.
"A note on Terminology – In our experience some people worry about all the technical jargon onboard a sailing yacht. Our message is “dont worry”. We’re not too hung up on jargon here on "Avatar". Sure some things have a name for a reason, Halyard, Sheet etc. but if you want to call the Galley the Kitchen and the Heads the Loo, then thats fine by us."
